John Tortorella Should Apply for the England Job

Following England's loss to Iceland last week, manager Roy Hodgson 'stepped down' and the Three Lions are currently searching for a new gaffer. I think the English FA should approach this situation in a different way and think outside the box. Clearly hiring 'soccer coaches' hasn't been working for them recently, having last reached the semi-finals of a major tournament at the 1996 European Championships, so I think it would be beneficial to look for someone outside of the soccer world. John Tortorella would be the perfect guy to whip this English side into shape. Yeah, he might have literally zero experience coaching soccer and probably hasn't ever been to game, but the guy won the Stanley Cup - something none of his soccer contemporaries can say. Love Torts or hate Torts, there's no denying the guy demands grit and toughness. You think Torts would've lost to Iceland? No. Doesn't even matter what sport, Torts would've had a seizure before losing to Iceland. If Torts was coach he'd have those English softies giving life and limb to block shots. If the ball goes in the corner you better believe his guy's coming out with it. Torts would rather have Wayne Rooney die from a Ronaldo rip to his throat than let the ball reach the keeper and that's exactly what England needs right now. John Tortorella is the kind of passionate leader that the England needs. The fiery spark plug that I would want pacing my sideline. The English FA needs to take a step back and gut their entire front office - fire everyone - and take a fresh new approach to the national team. Hiring a hockey coach makes more sense than any of the other potential candidates they're looking at. I mean how much 'coaching' do soccer managers really do? The toughest decisions they make are who to select for the team and maybe who to substitute during the game. 'Tactics' and 'formations' are overrated, I say the English FA should buy Torts a copy of FIFA 16 and sign him to a long term deal before it's too late.
